What natural building means here
Building with local, barely processed materials, and handling water and energy on the same piece of land. That is what defines the cabins at Moyocoyani.
Natural building means using materials from the region, processed as little as possible, and fitting the house to the hillside instead of flattening it. It is not a look. It is a way of deciding what every wall is made of and where every litre of water goes.
What every cabin carries
- Natural materials from the region, worked on site.
- A biodigester that treats waste water on the same land.
- Solar panels and a solar water heater.
- Orientation and cross ventilation considered before air conditioning.
Why it was chosen
The hillside is the project. Sloping land can be cut down until an ordinary house fits, or it can be read and built upon as it is. The second way takes more design work and less machinery, and it leaves the soil and the trees where they were.
